The Walk

Good morning my child;
It's always so good to talk.
Please take my hand now;
Let's go for a little walk.

I've missed our time;
I've missed your precious smile.
It seems life is keeping you quite busy;
You haven't been still with me, in awhile.

I know you have questions;
For many there are no words.
Yet I see them in your eyes;
I feel every one of your hurts.

You know I hold great things for you;
Yet you hang on to things that aren't my best.
Thinking somehow I've forgotten you;
Or maybe, this is some kind of test.

Oh sweet child, hear me;
I love you more than you can possibly know.
All that you aspire to become;
Requires each lesson, in order for you to grow.

I know it hurts at times;
But it is you ~ who I need strong.
The deeper the pain, the greater the purpose;
Remember… you are right where you belong.

Lay your head here on my shoulder;
Let my touch warm you deep inside.
Know I feel your joy and pain;
I hear each laugh and see every tear you've cried.

Slow down and listen child;
The answers are all found safe inside.
Stop looking everywhere around you;
My love is something I would never hide.

Hold your head up high today;
Stand and boldly sing your song.
What a beautiful person you've become;
Don't you realize?  I knew it all along.

Good morning my sweet, sweet child;
It is always so good to talk.
Keep your hand forever in my hand;
Let's take an endless walk.

  1. Wow... that depth of love brings a choked up feeling inside. Your sons might take you for granted, the purest love can be that way. So natural it is like the very air.. Brilliant. -David II

    1. Somehow I just saw your comment! Beautifully sweet but you know what? I wrote this AS the child and how I imagine God sees me (His child). I've always said that it was the love of my children that taught me just how much I am loved.
