Placebo

Moments in time tear at my solace
Thoughts of days past
Decisions made
Careless dreams cast

When I was just a child
Selfish motives bled.
Adventure snared my wisdom
Within a cleverly disguised web

No panacea for a curious mind
Longings tossed to and fro
Searching in emptiness for answers
Trading truth, for a deceptive placebo

Sometimes the lessons we learn,
Cost far more than we intend to pay
Freedom lost, broken hearts, a tortured and tattered soul
Dreams quietly die in wait, some are simply stolen away

We have choices to make in our life
To become all we desire to be
I learned the secret, isn’t a secret
And yes, it really does… begin with me.

For you my sweet child, I pray your peace
Learn to trust while still in your youth
Seek the answers within your own heart
It’s there, you will find the real truth
