Talking to the Moon

Talking to the Moon

I sat for a moment underneath the stars
Talking to the silent moon.
She smiled softly at my presence
Then beckoned my musings to resume

I spoke to her of my anger and pain
Went on about how hard I had tried.
She quietly and patiently listened…
My plotted revenge, I vehemently justified.

Sharing my tale of malicious betrayal
My pain and darkened despair
She softly whispered her guidance
Right there for me, in mid-air.

“Be honest with me”
She spoke from afar
“What will you gain
Even if you win this spar?”

I thought for a moment
A prize, I could not name.
Was it all about my ego and pride?
Maybe it was justice, I could boldly claim.

She smiled again, before she continued
My heart softening, with her graceful aura.
“Sweet child, forgive, let it go and live in peace…
It was revenge that gave birth to Pandora.”

“The best revenge is NOT to be – like your enemy.”

I took her words and mulled them over
Realizing bitterness had quelled any hint of grace
Void of peace and joy, I lamented
Malevolence, had taken its place.

Liberation engulfed me in that moment
As I inhaled the sheer wisdom of her voice.
The ire of my jaded heart was instantly replaced
With forgiving freedom - my power of choice.

    1. I wish she were always so ready with her advice... Good to write something too. I have had such a difficult time lately. Lots of starts, but no finishes. Even this one I just published eventhough I wasn't happy with it.

    1. Seems I can forgive most people far easier than I forgive myself. Not sure where this came from, but hey... I wrote something!

  5. I'm so happy to see you writing again! I believe I've had similar conversations with the moon, so I can totally relate to this. Forgiving is often easier said than done. But the moon is wise.
Beautifully done, as you always do <3

  6. I wish the moon would tell me more about what I want to know... but at least she's gentle with her advice. I have struggled so much to write and this is hardly my best work, but it's a start...again. Love ya
