Equilibrium - A poem for Blogo 35.8 Six Feet of Earth Makes Us All Equal

Equilibrium

Pride and ego wear differences with such valor
Separating us from whom we are meant to be
The oneness in love, shredded and shrouded by our diversity

The forceps of life bring us forth
All born of a first breath
All die - with a last

Existence spent to make our mark
Relentless searching for who we are
The fear of death follows the fear of life

Yearning for a deeper love
Surviving heartbreaking loss
Constantly weighing the cost

We read or write of living, in hope of answers
Maybe for relief - or simply in belief
Of dreams we feel close enough to touch

We all live
We all die
Breathing in the same mortiferous air

Bodies of bones, blood and water
Return to nothing more than dust and ashes
Six feet of earth makes us all equal

Close your eyes and open your heart
Truly love the depths of a wandering soul
Find a missing piece of you…masterfully hidden inside

Blogophilia Week 34.8 - Night Echoes a Quiet Waiting

Blogophilia Week 34.8 Topic: Night Echoes
Bonus Points:
(Hard, 2 pts) Incorporate an Elmore Leonard quote
(Easy, 1 pt) Include the phrase ‘forest breeze’

***************************************

Night Echoes a Quiet Waiting

In silence, she quietly waits
For that moment her heart awakens
Inhaling a breath of a telling forest breeze
Stilled, years before, on some forgotten day

Hungry for boldness that speaks to her soul
Beyond the broken dreams of time once past
To feel the caress of hope on a spirit withered
A gentle smile cast upon a tattered heart

The night echoes with a longing gaze
To the moon, as she smiles within her knowing
Muted notions provoked with enchantment
Roused by a mere moment of chance encounter

Will she dance the dream with eyes wide open
Or close them and sway to some mystical tune
A waltzing thought she relishes with ponder
In silence, she quietly waits.

Piano Dreams

Piano Dreams

The sun hides within a melancholy song
Notes play soft memories from within dreams past
A heartfelt smile, a passionate kiss, a quiet touch to a yearning soul
Etched masterfully, in a reminiscent heart by love's burin

Does the beauty of a memory offer only a look behind;
Or is the catalyst to a dream claimed by tomorrow?
Answers sleep peaceful in their seasoned slumber
Rest in knowing, it is as it should be, on this day

The essence of true love continues her song
Revealing peace in a graceful reprise
Passion's flame fanned lovingly by
The ghosts who wander the keys of sweet yesterday.

My Room

Come on in my friend, and stop awhile,
Nice to have your company.
You are welcome to enjoy the view with me.
Soaking up the warmth of the fire while we talk, open and free.

~ It's great to be me ~

The room we sit in is decorated with memories past
Dancing visions of great things to come.
Dream with me awhile,
Feel enlightenment with me.
Place your piece in the waiting puzzle that lay undone…

~ Just for fun ~

But there is a room beyond what you know.
Hidden quietly, under the lock and key of time.
No one goes there anymore, the entrance guarded and veiled.
Treasures remain unearthed, some lay silently broken in mind.

~ This place you will not find ~

This lair holds my heart in a glen of safekeeping,
Quietly beating to some monotonous tone.
Passions subdued, withheld and cooled within the darkness.
Trading the risk of harm, for the safe and steady beat of alone.

I am not sad…

I am untouched…

I am home…

So enjoy your time as I savor mine.
Knowing tomorrow brings not another today.
Will we return with the spring’s first bloom?
Or simply wake grateful for our temporary stay?

~ I dream from a room of a different day ~

My Moonlight

Your love is my moonlight;
How you shine deep within the night.
Reaching out to touch you;
You tease me with such delight.

Whispering words unspoken;
I feel you surround me in your silence.
Your quiet beauty holds me captive;
The valor of your unwavering stance.

I dance for you…in time with you;
Upon the subtle water, quiet ripples in the darkness.
Your smile wraps me in warmth;
Your breath of wind, offers a sweet caress.

Entranced by the moment;
I know, shall too quickly pass away.
Sunrise threatens my solace, my quiet dream;
The insistent wait within the light of another day.

But I'll wait for you…my moonlight;
For I am hopelessly drawn to you.
Return to shine softly upon me tonight my love;
The restless wanting within me, you gently imbue.

Heal the Child

Heal the Child

She picked up her things
Like a good girl should
No asking why
That's never good

Said her prayers
And wiped her eyes
Can't do it right
Despite her tries

What horrible wrong
Evoked wrath this time
Demanding her silence
Her voice a crime.

Her song is silent
But her heart screams out
The trust is broken
Love brings such doubt

The years pass slowly
As she gains her voice
No longer tempered
By another's choice

Stronger she grows
Learns who she is
A beautiful wonder
Is born out of this

Her song begins
A melody of hope
A path of hard lessons
On a slippery slope

Falling down
She's learned to get up
Days before her
Had made her tough

Finding the softness
A treasure inhumed
Buried in time
Until once exhumed

She dances now
Graceful and free
No longer stifled
By painful debris

She saw that hurt
In the eyes of a child
Held out her hand
And softly smiled

Catch and Release

A Poet's Heart

A Poet’s Heart

A poet’s heart inscribes each word;
Deep within their yearning souls.
Nothing can erase such etchings;
Cherished surely, as ancient scrolls.

Is that what creates a poet
Incisions of love and pain?
The romance of melancholy;
The moon’s blue hue and waltzing rain.

A muse born of a broken heart;
Chides with promises of love.
Lends a pen to write the words;
Until the soul has hurt enough.
